The young people Step Up serves come from vulnerable communities affected by HIV/AIDS, unemployment, poverty, alarming school dropout rates and general apathy. To thrive, they must overcome many complex social and economic challenges that they see and are surrounded by everyday.
Step Up’s model is based on asking one critical question – what does a young person need to overcome these challenges so she can achieve her full potential?
The strength of our programming is in the simplicity of our model. Our answer, it turns out, is not so different than what we provide to our own children everyday. By putting the child at the center of everything we do, Step Up provides the programs, resources and environment that propel our Achievers along a pathway that empowers them to not just survive, but thrive.
